At least 12 people have died after a TransAsia Airways plane clipped a bridge and crashed into a river near the Taiwanese capital, Taipei.Fifty-eight people were onboard the domestic flight. The plane is now half-submerged in the Keelung River.

 

Rescuers have cut open the side of the fuselage and are trying to rescue several people still trapped inside.

 

Taipei officials said 16 people suffered injuries. Thirty people are still unaccounted for...

Horrific crash, seemed to either have no power or to have stalled totally, which is bizarre. I bet the drivers of those cars will have nightmares for years after seeing that.

I must also say, it appears from that brief footage that the pilot showed a great amount of skill to guide a doomed plane past those buildings and into the river (where an explosion/collision/fire were far less likely).

Yeah remarkable work really, would have been much worse if not for his actions in the clip.
