Office 365 Student Pro Plus renewal

Hi,

 

Has anyone renewed their Student Advantage subscription for O365?

 

I've been told by our reseller that Microsoft now handle them.

We renewed in Jan, and went back to our reseller and got them to put the order through exactly the same as last year.

 

It still had to be raised via reseller unless something has changed in the last 4 weeks.

They should raise the order, once processed it should appear in your VLSC and then you should be able to acticate it through the OSA wizard.

 

They messed up our O365 Pro for Faculty order mind (still waiting for Micorosft to fix).

A lot of the faculty/education plans are now free.. according to our reseller. Havent paid for ours this year - A3 faculty. Not sure about Student Advantage

Isn't the renewal done via your admin account of Office 365? That is where we renewed ours although it was the free one

It is. Im actually waiting for a serial from our reseller. Its part of our EES.

Student Advantage/ProPlus required an activation key that was assigned to your MS licensing agreement which then gets applied to your 365 Tenancy.

 

The MS Volume Licensing site now has the notification on screen when you login to check for any outstanding activations and then it passes you through to 365 to enable it.

You were unable to renew it directly through the 365 admin page unlike the other free educational A1 plans.

Last year i got a licence key from our reseller and added it via the O365 dashboard.

@gpjt have you got back to your account manager and got them to repeat the same procedure as last year (which for us was a case of number of licenses X on agreement policy Y thank you very much)

Then you can re-add the license key to renew

Yup.

 

It was the first thing i did to get it renewed and he was the person that told me they don't deal with it anymore.

Looking into VL now and just trying to find out where to request the activation key.

Wonder if one of the other MS license providers like @Millgate could confirm the procedure for their customers as everything I've seen says to go to your EES reseller

ha ha! Found them in VL and it seems as i have 8400 licences still available that i haven't activated Think i'll use that one to start with.

 

It does all point to the reseller to enable it on our VL.

While logging into to Office365 to do a few admin tasks, I spotted this recent message

Starting in February, we will be making it easier for your institution to take advantage of the Office 365 ProPlus benefit available to your students and faculty. Specifically we will be enabling a self-service sign up process for students and faculty who already have an Office 365 account. Upon sign up, students will be able to get started with the full functionality of Office ProPlus right away.

 

This program can also be extended to additional students and faculty who do not already have an Office 365 account. If they have email addresses in your domains, you can enable them to use this same flow to create an account, be added to your tenant(s) and get access to the benefits of Office 365 and ProPlus. To learn more, review the program FAQ and then complete the steps below to opt-in.

To enable this for all email enabled students and faculty today, complete the steps below:

 

Step 1:

Install the latest versions of the Microsoft Online Services Sign-in Assistant and Azure AD Module for Windows PowerShell from the Microsoft Download Center (if you already have them installed, no need to do it again, although verify you have the latest version):

 

(Note: you will need to copy and paste the links into a browser to access the links.)

Step 2:

Use the following commands in Windows PowerShell to enable automatic tenant join for new users:

“Connect-MsolService”

“Set-MsolCompanySettings -AllowEmailVerifiedUsers $true”

 

Once you have completed these steps, new students at your institution who do not have Office 365 accounts will be able to sign up and get started with Office right away.
