X-13 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I've been trying to do it for a couple of days using my sig image [Derivative work > is legal > Guy who made it allows any use] and it's being rejected over and over. When looking stuff up about it, all I'm seeing is people saying their images are being rejected... Including a professional photographer who had to prove, multiple times, that they were allowed to use the images they took. When it's rejected, you aren't told why. You're just sent their guidelines and told to try again. Currently trying with the Flannery version of my sig. [it's not purple though... ] So... Does anyone have one of these? What have you got?
Scotbynature Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 (edited) I have got one, its of my son when he was first born. Got it about a week after he was born 2 years ago. I cant remember having any problems with it, just uploaded the picture and followed the steps. Edited February 2, 2015 by Scotbynature
Miscbrah Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Oh now I want one. I'mma go with a picture saying "DANGER! STOLEN CARD." Or with "Halifax" written all over it. Or with "Federal Booby Inspector." Or with "Heroin Bulk-Buyer's Loyalty Card." Oh the possibilities... 3

featured_spectre Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I got one with my daughters on it. The thing is, you can't have words on it, they reject that. You also can't have characters from TV shows either, so that's some what limiting.
X-13 Posted February 2, 2015 Author Posted February 2, 2015 You also can't have characters from TV shows either, so that's some what limiting. I think that's overruled by rule 1. If you have permission, it's fine. [i've actually seen someone with "Shut up and take my money" Fry.]
rickjames Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Might switch bank accounts just for one of these.
X-13 Posted February 2, 2015 Author Posted February 2, 2015 Might switch bank accounts just for one of these. I wouldn't... So much hassle.
Arreks Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I wouldn't... So much hassle. What about opening up a new account just for one? is it only credit cards or debit cards too?
elsiegee40 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 What about opening up a new account just for one? is it only credit cards or debit cards too? It's debit, not credit!
X-13 Posted February 2, 2015 Author Posted February 2, 2015 (edited) What about opening up a new account just for one? is it only credit cards or debit cards too? Just debit. And the problem I'm having is that they're rejecting images that meet their guidelines, but won't say why [so, BS reasons then] From the T&C 3.2. We will review the image and may reject it if: (a) it does not meet our Image Guidelines; (b) its use would be in breach of the terms of our agreement with you; or © we reasonably consider that it is not suitable for use on a debit card. Re: C. If you can't explain or justify it, it's not reasonable. I want muh Roxie, dagnabit! Le EDIT: Rejection email says phone telephone banking guys... been on the phone for 35 minutes so far. If they can't do something as simple as this, why the should I trust them with my money? Edited February 2, 2015 by X-13 1

X-13 Posted February 2, 2015 Author Posted February 2, 2015 Are they assuming the image is copyrighted? It sort of is, but the creator openly gave permission for anyone to use it for anything. And, TBH, as far as Barclays should be concerned, by uploading the image I'm telling them I have permission to use it.
CAM Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Sounds like it's a process more hassle then it's worth. :/ Maybe you are falling foul of the no cartoon characters rule? It's not from a cartoon but copyright fearing legal droids probably can't tell the difference.

tom_newton Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 The wife's got one, with an image she took (despite my insistence that it was probably too dark) at dusk in the masai mara. No issues with getting it on there.
Arreks Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Only debit? what a let-down, I want a personalized credit card!
X-13 Posted February 2, 2015 Author Posted February 2, 2015 Only debit? what a let-down, I want a personalized credit card! Debit cards are cooler. I ain't got no debt.
X-13 Posted February 2, 2015 Author Posted February 2, 2015 In the saga of how dumb getting an image on you card is... This is deemed acceptable http://m.imgur.com/r/thelastofus/2uTBvwV But mine isn't. Yeah, ok.
Andrew_C Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I'm not sure I'd want a pic of Stephen Fry on my card... For those that don't know, the "British Institution" that is S.F. did time for credit card fraud.
rickjames Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 That being said reading this has made me think about possibly switching, with HSBC I don't really get anything in terms of perks/benefits etc. Halifax is appealing...
Jaan Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Can somebody post one without all the post-it notes stuck on them please, it ruining the overall effect. 1
bmdixon Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Can somebody post one without all the post-it notes stuck on them please, it ruining the overall effect. No need... use one from here 3
fiendishlyclever Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I had a lovely picture of my dog playing in the snow on mine. Unfortunately bit became a bit of an issue when I had him put to sleep but Capital One swapped it for a plain one with no fuss. I think I'd think carefully about what picture to use now!
