WXGA or XGA Projectors

Would you rather fit WXGA over XGA now ?

Depends what you are conecting to them I would say. I'm just getting some wide-screen ones where I work as they will be mostly used with Laptops which are all near enough wide screen now.

I get WXGA - more pixels so the flexibility is there to go either 4:3 or 16:10/9. Most of our screens are 16:9 now so makes sense. Older Smartboards etc that are 4:3 just get WXGA projectors set at the lower res with a 4:3 monitor.

Cheers all, the boards being projected onto are wide and I'm attempting to move them to use extended desktops, I just wasn't sure if it's worth the extra cost

IME yes it's worth it - the wide displays are much more suitable for classroom walls, and by having a native widescreen projector the picture is much clearer due to less pixel sharing. Edited January 26, 2015 by 3s-gtech

What are your boards, what are your laptops..? If either are predominantly one or the other I would simply go with what you have the most of, or what would be most expensive to change.

Boards are plain whiteboards, no interactive - there's more of a shift to widescreen monitors now too plus projecting iPads onto them using Airserver so WXGA is probably the way to go.

if you buy WXGA you can lock down in XGA (most models) with no loss of resolution. trying it the other way round will reduce pixels. Plus you're future proofed a bit for upgrading.
