It has long been known that certain visual inputs can cause semi-permanent changes in brain function/perception.

As to whether this could be considered brain damage is debatable.

Whether use of these types of devices would have a similar effect is also debatable. They have the potential to, but there is no evidence.

This is just marketing hyperbole.

To be fair, 3d films really hurt my eyes, and I haven't been the first to say so.

 

Not saying that Google are right, it's anecdotal, but if that's the case with Hololens I wouldn't be able to use it for anything over 30 minutes.

my eyes are fine but depending on how its done (toy story 3 3d at the cinema gave me a 8 hour headache yet i can watch stuff on my laptop (active glasses) or tv passive glasses for an hour or so without any ill effects after that its annoying but nothing like as bad as the cinema
