Scan to Network on Server 2012 R2 problem

Hi,

 

I've got a job lot of Lexmark XS548 MFDs on the network here and all are setup to scan to a network shared drive on a Windows 2003 storage server which worked fine.

 

I've recently switched over to a 2012 R2 server making sure all shares and NTFS permissions are setup in the same way however, now when scanning to the share, a PDF is created but with 0kb. The write permissions must be set correctly as the authenticated user gets a folder created on the share with the inherited permissions showing correctly so am thinking this is a communication based issue maybe!?

 

Windows Firewall is off and Microsoft network server: Digitally sign communications (Always) is disabled. I think it's going to be a gpo setting somewhere along the line but currently can't see what at the moment.

 

Any ideas?

Had a similar issue with xerox devices and had to update the software on these to support scanning to 2012 server via smb protocol.

I forgot to mention that I've already updated these printers to the latest firmware.

 

While researching further I've found that there are different version of SMB (v1, 2 & 3) and it seems that older devices may not be able to communicate properly but checking the server, all 3 versions are enabled so shouldn't be an issue as far as this is concerned however, think it's something along this line!!

Might there be some other tech on the copiers that could to the same - maybe WebDAV or FTP?

I've enabled Scan to email and am currently setting up Scan to USB. Will look at FTP if it turns out these just won't work with Server 2012

Turns out I thought I'd updated the firmware but in actual fact hadn't. Working fine now

 

The Scan to Network feature required updating before the firmware so had to downgrade this first and then upgrade the SNF but simply forgot to re-update the firmware!

I know you fixed it know, but just thought I would like to add.

 

I had an issue with HP officejets scanning to windows server 2012 r2, which worked fine for 2003.

 

The fix for me was to install Windows8.1-KB2887595-v2-x64.

Yeah found that update referenced on my searches but already had it installed
