milon03 Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Hello All Could you please share the ideas about the regular tasks that you carry an an administrator to keep an eye on school esafety for example check the alerts, running various reports(which types of reports), password change, desktop wallpaper about esafety for students etc. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Oaktech Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 As an admin, my tasks only extend to being responsive to filtering, sitting on the esafety committee once a term, checking student work areas for prohibited stuff and advising staff about their online presence. The network itself deals with password changes, the teachers and supervisors deal with everything else. I also back the staff up with impero reports and such like in the event of a student accessing something they shouldn't.
strawberry Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 With my pedantic hat on, I do nothing regarding Esafety unless asked by the designated officer!. In reality I use Italc to monitor student computers, spot checks on TMG, have access to CCTV to observe student crowding. I also ensure posters are in place and take part in disciplinary hearings so I can advise and learn.
JB7 Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Sounds a lot like a research task question on an IT topic ...

Not wishing to hijack this but a similar question regarding e-safety, we have been asked to do reports on students looking at information on radicalization as this is of interest with Ofstead. Have any of you implemented something similar?
bossman Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 E-safety at our school is a teaching staff role and therefore beyond my remit as NM I only get involved by way of e-mail and internet reports or any IT misuse issues such as damage to IT computers which again is a report, these are then used to deal with the member of staff or student who has incurred the need for a report to be sanctioned in the first place. Above my paygrade I'm afraid
