Spiders. Why.

Yes, I'm afraid of spiders (my one weakness in life ).

 

How the hell do you keep them out of your house, short of levitating it 100ft into the air?

 

They're not frequent, but they're big. I'm even tempted of going to the extreme of using spider bombs, sprays and double sided tape every week.

I too suffered from arachnophobia, how I got over it was to go to one of these animal fairs and slowly plucked up the courage to hold a wolf spider and man are they big mother's!

 

I took the family too and the children held the spiders and the snakes too!

 

You have to man up and take it to the next level bud or else your life will be owned by these 8 legged creatures which are after all, more afraid of you

Probably not the right time of year for this suggestion but if you put conkers in the corners of each room spiders seem to stay away. No idea why....! For years I just thought it was an old wives tale but I tried it and it works

Best way to get rid of spiders - release a menagerie of animals into your home. Birds, lizards, meerkats, any spider predator. However, you'll then have turned into Dr Doolittle...

 

Realistically, cats seem to be reasonable at eating the occasional spider.

Interesting. Where do you spray it? Is it a preventative or direct use on spiders??

Yeah i heard Cats are good, but i'm not buying a cat just for spiders! Though they are nice a furry... and jump quite high, have nice eyes....... make nice slippers.... hmmmm.

I like spiders in my house...means that they are sorting out any other bug problem. In summer, I actively encourage having at least 2 in the house, one upstairs, one downstairs due to all the windows being open and a menagerie of bugs coming in. When it comes to October, the spiders get released outside.

Leaving tiger/lion poop in the garden is supposed to discourage cats I hear. Get some tarantula dookie from the zoo and rub it on yourself and your belongings?

Love spiders, handy little things to have around and keep out the actual nasty bugs! Both kids like them, there was one with a HUGE body/butt a few weeks ago and my 6 year old son thought nothing of picking it up, letting it run over his naked arms and dubbed it "Mr Skinny Legs" (prizes for anyone knowing the reference!).

 

They also actively try and save any spider that gets into the grip of either of my cats who do like to maim them.

Why spiders? They eat WASPS!!

 

I've found Conker Spray works well. Buy from Amazon, and spray around the windows. Keeps my girly household happy (me, I like them!)

Really not a fan here (of spiders, Peppa Pig is amazing!). I have a cat that keeps them nicely at bay, however I let them run amok in the garden as they are the best pest control in the world.

Just learn to get over your irrational fear of them.

 

The vast majority of native wild spider in the UK will not do you any harm what so ever. Unless you like all sorts of other bugs in your house, spiders are great pest deterrents and you are letting nature take its course rather than killing one of the top predators of the "insect" world.

 

Learn about them and you will find them fascinating creatures.
