ActivPanel touch isn't working on new Dell Optiplex 3030 PCs

Hi,

 

We have bought quite a few Dell OptiPlex 3030 PCs. After installing the ActivInspire software and updating Windows etc, I restart the machine, plug in the USB cable attached to the ActivPanel but I get an error saying "USB device not recognised".

 

I know the ActivPanel isnt faulty because it works with other laptops, but I've tried so many of the other Dells it just doesn't work.

 

Any ideas why??

Hi zonehack,

You have found something that we are also seeing and have under investigation.

There is a limitation on some USB2 devices when connected to USB 3 ports in that the recommended USB cable length should be no more than 3m.

Anything over 3m can cause this issue on our ActivPanel Touch with some computers.

We have found some success with using a USB 2 hub, or a USB 2 extension cable if 3m is too short.

 

If you have any further questions about this I would recommend that you discuss this with our support team.
