CAM Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 The Steam clicker isn't working very well, I seem to have jumped from 1 to 30 and got stuck there. Not sure what the point of it is. Also beware shenanigans in the store as some companies are raising prices before the sale and cutting it again to make it look like a good deal. GTA V is a bit dodgy as they are bundling Shark Cards with the main game and discounting those to make GTA V look heavily reduced!

Read about this last night and am going to be very wary of what I buy, though nothing recently really piques my interest I have to say.

Pretty good deal on them if I buy the bundle for £22 or I can buy the "Legendary" edition of Skyrim for £12 but I don't get another copy of the main game, which doesn't bother me as I'm saving £10 on the price of the DLCs. Also picked up Fallout:NV for gf as she'd been trying to play my copy recently but Steam doesn't like that when the other person is also playing a game from their library.

I'm not too bothered about saving another £5, ~£20 saving was good enough for me and I'm wanting to try out the DLC on my next play through anyway (probably 5 - 10 more hours game play left on current character).

Is she logging into your account? she should be able to create an account and have sharing between both accounts, unless Gaben's changed it since I did it..

Shared library, apparently it wouldn't let her play any games of mine but I didn't have a look into it as I was busy skulking through a draugr crypt or something.

Valve have explicitly stated this is something you can do and it isn't considered abuse. So anything you've bought in the last fortnight and not touched yet...
Sagima Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 I'm not convinced the game is any good. If I attack anyone I die almost straight away but somehow I'm on level 113. The amount of coins I have in-game seems to go up and down by itself as well.

I've heard you can't actually do it with the new GTA V bundles they are selling on sale, something to do with the cards being auto redeemed and therefore not eligible for the refund. I haven't looked into it myself but that sounds like something they'd try to get away with if they could.

Game sharing only works when you aren't both playing. So, if B wants to play your games, they can do so indefinitely as long as you're not in a game. As soon as you start a game, B gets a grace period (15 minutes I believe) before they're kicked out of the game. It doesn't have to be the same game either; they could be playing your copy of NV while you're playing Grid, and they'd still get booted. Works great for me though, my daughter has access to my library pretty much any time she likes as I only usually play when she's in bed anyway. OH gets to try games out and then she'll usually buy them if she likes them. Of course now Valve finally offer refunds, she can do that on her own account but before the refund policy kicked in it was a great way of her finding new games she liked before she bought them (as I have an enormous library of games I never play!)

Example Hotline Miami https://steamdb.info/app/219150/ clearly shows the price right now is the LOWEST steam has ever sold it for (actually been this price once before!) but it also shows: GTA V https://steamdb.info/app/271590/ went back up to full price before the discount was applied and that the price in the sale is exactly the same price as it has been sold for... so right now its not a bargain! (sports direct price structure there) so yea I think its a good indication!

Or is it Valve's decision? If I saw the old "pump up the price then fake a reduction" at a supermarket, I'd lay the blame with the store. Not sure how Steam works - I find it hard to even use their store efficiently!
