Xibo .GIF support

Just made a nice and festive gif and realised that Xibo doesn't appear to support them... anyone know a way around this?

Yes I thought of that but have no idea how to do it. Because we need to have two other things on there as well - (powerpoints) this will just go in the corner, theoretically of course!

If you have a Web page in an xibo region it should show the top left corner of page by default. Just make sure that your gif is the correct size in the web page for your region.

To what I have tried in the past, the WINDOWS client doesnt support layering, so like having a region on top of a region (I tried by having the school logo permenant in the top corner over powerpoint) but apparently using the linux client version does support layering.

Thanks guys - please don't laugh, but how do I get it on a webpage? Do I actually have to have it on a hosted webpage somewhere or can I just save it to my PC like that? (Okay, you can laugh, I know you want to!)

You can create an HTML file on the local PC which just references the GIF ..\name.gif (e.g. if the file is in the directory above), if you want it really simple. You can also stick the HTML and GIF on a webserver if you have a number of Xibo screens and want to centralise. Edited December 16, 2014 by 3s-gtech

Thank you so much!! Perfect, it's now on there. One TV is smaller and the resolution needs sorting on that but other than that, I'm really happy. Cheers man.

you could also change the allowed filetypes in phpmyadmin to alow .gifs and it should work (phpmyadmin -> xibo -> modules and edit the allowed file types for the image module) gif is now standard in the new release
