Bste93 Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Hello all, I hope someone here can help with this really weird problem we have! Since the start of the week when people go to the Google website, the browser stops responding and closes. This happens in both Internet Explorer and Google Chrome. I have not altered anything in group policy or deployed any software that would of added toolbars etc (which was my initial thoughts) If students/ staff go to an other website, the browser is fine. Anyone got any ideas?
elsiegee40 Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 What versions of Chrome and IE are you using and on what operating system?
Bste93 Posted December 11, 2014 Author Posted December 11, 2014 I think I have worked it out! It appears that Policy Central is crashing it. Will chase with them tomorrow.. Faulting application name: chrome.exe, version: 39.0.2171.71, time stamp: 0x547407a7 Faulting module name: Infilter32.dll, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x513f02af Exception code: 0xc0000417 Fault offset: 0x0000d209 Faulting process id: 0x22c8 Faulting application start time: 0x01d0158f3d412915 Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe Faulting module path: C:\Program Files\PCENT\Infilter32.dll Report Id: 7f1d1565-8182-11e4-8335-386077f068b8 Thanks for your help anyway
Trojan Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 I'm having this exact problem with Policy Central crashing when visiting amazon..
Michael Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 I have the same issue too - Amazon and Google. Removing it does the trick. It seems that Link2ICT were talking about Policy Central 6 but it's gone amazingly quiet. I wonder why? It always seems to be infilter32.dll which is creating the problem, so it's unclear why Forensic or whoever don't just patch it.
Trojan Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 I've just posted in this other thread http://www.edugeek.net/forums/educational-software/140133-policy-central-v6.html Yes, removing the pce client works.. annoying though. They are talking to me about migrating to v6 at the moment, my install needs to change servers though which adds some complication.
Bste93 Posted December 12, 2014 Author Posted December 12, 2014 Have logged a ticket with Future Digital and hopefully they get back to me on Monday. We're hoping to move away from Policy Central in April to Impero, so hopefully no more headaches then!
SPFLDHSTech Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Got a ticket open with Link2ICT, will see what they say. Anyone found anything else out about this issue? I notice that it seems to be 64bit clients that are affected (\Program Files x86\ for browser, \Program Files\ for PCEClient). It wouldn't be *too* much of an issue, but our school website (obviously the homepage) causes the browser to crash!
Michael Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 I mostly use 32Bit clients and it affects these too. Easiest thing is to change the homepage to Bing via GPO for Windows clients. Not ideal but it works!
SPFLDHSTech Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Link2ICT updated us to V6. No recurrence of the issue. Heaven only knows why it needs Java and DotNET, though. Pick a framework, people!
