Parental Reporting

Hi,

 

Not technically VLE related, but I couldn't find anywhere more appropriate to post this.

 

We've been using SIMS Learning Gateway but have been unhappy with it for a while. We're also removing our Sharepoint infrastructure so maintaining it just for SLG doesn't make sense.

 

Does anyone know of any cloud based parental reporting services that can pull data from SIMS?

What do you want to expose to parents?

 

Are you looking to shove data at them, if so, attendance, behaviour, assessment? Or are you looking to open up a 'view' on the wider school environment.

 

For example, some Praise systems allow basic MIS info to come across and you also get all the 'good news' too which gives a much better flavour for what's going on in school.

If you wanted to stay SLG - you could always look at a third party to host, Capita or depending on your area - LA. TASC is one option, some VLEs have this in too - I think I saw Frog did at one point.

We use overnet with our moodle.

Another one for Tasc Software and Insight, easy for Parents, Students and Staff use nice easy front end for users, Easy to setup, great support, Easily links to SIM's seamlessly enough said, been using this for about four years now and has been a great success and gone from strength to strength and a number of schools in the borough have converted to Insight and never looked back.
