Yes, 3 schools but on one site and under the same governance. The post is one of a team of 6 and requires a person to primarily be responsible for the server elements of the infrastructure. The post reports the Network Manager who is responsible for the wider IT delivery such as networks, telephony, printers, technicians, suppliers etc. allowing this systems role to be more focused without the usual distractions. Like most independent schools we operate on a Saturday morning during our (shorter) terms and the hours accrued can be taken off at other times giving flexibility without using up annual leave. Most IT work requires some sort of flexibility in attendance, ours is just more formalised for Saturday mornings so our team can plan ahead and swap with colleagues if needed.

Seems to be quite long hours for that wage esp when the Saturday isnt included within the usual 37.5 hour week?

Mondays – Fridays 8.00 am – 5.30 pm rota 37.5hrs

Saturdays (1 in 3) 8.30 am – 1.00 pm term time

During School Holidays

Mondays – Fridays 8.00 am – 5.00 pm flexible hrs.

Comments on responsibilities are fine as they trigger more info but please do not comment on salary as it often leads to the thread going off on a tangent

37.5 hours is 7 and half hours a day. If I start at 8am, plus 7 and half hours I should be finishing at 3.30pm. Does this mean we have 2 hours lunch break? And who would want 2 hours lunch break? Normally eat in 30 minutes or less...

It says rota, so presumably those hours are either extremes of the rota.

Indeed, they are the earliest start and latest finish times the team normally cover - half the team will start at 8, take the early lunch break and finish at 4.30pm, others will start at 8.30am take the later lunch break and finish at 5pm to provide continuous cover during the school day. Everyone has a 1 hour lunch break and a good (free) meal choice is provided in the refectory.

Just out of interest. Am I the only one who would apply for this, apart from the Saturday working? I suspect they are massively reducing their pool of candidates with that stipulation.

I don't think it's that bad considering you aren't the Network Manager so miss out on quite a bit of responsibility.

I'd consider if it I were nearer, I like the idea of concentrating on the techie bits.

From the looks of it, you have missed the boat. They have vacancies in admin and catering though!

I doubt they would enjoy my cooking.
