[ipad] Tranferring files from iPad to PC or network...

Hi All,

 

Just a quickie (I hope, but doubt very much) a teacher has just presented me with an iPad with some sort of voice sound recorder app (may be a built in one, as you may guess I'm not very 'au fait' with iPads) and asked how she gets the files transferred to her laptop.

 

Not that they would dream of finding out how to do this BEFORE she based the lesson around it and has the whole class' work stored there...

 

We do not have an apple server, but do have an old MacBook pro (too old for configurator or anything though), the iPads are not connected to our Domain Network or anything like that either....

 

Any helpful suggestions?

OK, I know I'm rubbish with iPads, but I can't see where a USB cable goes in!

Hmmmm, think it's the built-in one. Instructions are for iPhone but I guess the same via iTunes however, it is signed in to another teachers personal iTunes account... As it seems the instructions are assuming it's a personal device and you have iTunes on your PC...

 

I give up....

As in USB one end and Apple (lightning connector or 30 pin depending on how old device is)

If it's just files how about Dropbox or something similar?

Had this same issue come to light recently.

With other video recording related apps anyway ...

Found an amazing (slightly expensive) solution called Aircatch. Not bought it yet but had trial it and worked perfectly allowing saving of files directly to the Windows network share!

Pretty cool considering its Apple.

We have a similar problem with video files and because our ipads are managed when they are connected by USB they will not show any files. We have had to resort to Dropbox to get files off the devices. Another Apple workaround! Of course the problem with IOS devices of course is their lack of a useful file system so even if the app has created audio files you may not be able to find them.
