I have been playing Far Cry 3 for the last week or so after getting it last year and losing all my data when my PS3 hard drive got corrupted. Fortunately I hadn't got that far through it so not much was lost, but I felt I should complete it before getting Far Cry 4. I guess that's some sort of OCD, right?

I know its available on the PS3 but I have been hankering after a PS4 so this could be a reason to get one (that and the PS4 version of GTA V)!

I haven't and probably wont, it's more or less Far Cry 3 with some tweaks, in a different part of the world which has alot of similar environments to Far Cry 3. They barely even update the gun models, some of which are practically identical. Ubisoft are basically trying to do to Far Cry what they did to Assassins Creed, ie. minimum changes, maximum profit.

It's sad to see a good concept flogged to death.

Its the storyline I like. It was a great story in FC3. If we complain about concepts being flogged to death, we'd never have a new action movie ever...

All I really wanted was a total mod for FC3, which they've done very well. Looks superb. Not saying that I'd like the next one to be so similar, but this should be a lot of fun again. Plus, Elephants.

...I like the new Assassin's Creed.

I don't like some of the online components, though. [Requiring an farmville-esque "wait for a timer to count down" App and a website that doesn't work, to open chests and get armour/weapons isn't cool.]

That's slightly different as they have different plots and settings, FC3 and 4 are so similar that they could be confused if not for the slight name change. Games have the added problem of mechanics, Assassin's Creed for example is basically the same mechanically, though in recent times they have expanded it slightly, though this should be expected from a long running series, eventually they have to make some changes.

There are now 21 games in total for Assassin's Creed by the way. Far Cry is up to 10 with the release of Far Cry 4.

I think plot and story are synonyms here but as I haven't played FC4 yet, I can't really comment on whether they are very similar. I don't expect them to be wildly different tbh as its quite a specific genre and what I also really like is the open world nature of it.

I played the first Assassins Creed and got bored so quickly that I have never bothered with the other 20!

The mechanics are arguably very similar, but it's still a fun game. It's just as open as FC3 if not more open, full of random events etc. The story is different but follows a similar arc, but stories can only get a game so far imo. Far Cry Blood Dragon had the exact same mechanics and a limited story but it was still awesome and my favourite FC game.

Been playing for a few days now. Thoroughly enjoying it, even if the stealthy "assassination" missions are going to be the end of me.

Favourite weapon is the recurve bow, by far. Just wish it was easier to take down "heavy" soldiers with it more easily. Bait helps there though, send in the lions!

Loving the gyrocopters! Makes getting to places much easier, as I'm not a huge fan of driving. Riding elephants is great fun too. Took out an outpost yesterday entirely on elephant back. :D

My main problem so far has been rhinos. They don't half hurt!

I got FC4 but it's a little bit glitchy and unoptimized. I have two GTX680 OC on water and the game runs on medium @ 34-40FPS... I ran FC3 on Ultra at 50fps.. Something isn't right here- I believe because Ubisoft put their hands on this title.

Its an updated engine, you can't expect it to work exactly the same...

But I would expect two GTX680 to run it at least on high..

My 6850 is half the power of a single one of your cards. That is very odd.

What CPU/RAM/HDD are you running with it? I've got an i5-2550k, 8GB RAM and an SSD for it.

I've got an FX8350 with 8GB ram, but not on an SSD. I'll doubt that putting it on SSD storage will make a difference- I think there are some patches for it.

I'll be getting it on Thursday.. kind of tempted to just get it on PS4 though.

The PC Gamer in me hates myself for saying that, but I just don't want to deal with the Uplay client on PC.

I'm loving the game so far! Running it on my PC, everything is on Ultra and it runs perfectly! Be sure to update your game to 1.0.3 because there has been some issues before then! :)

Got Far Cry 4 on my Santa list! The 3rd one was fantastic and I loved blood dragon. Even though this just looks like more of the same I couldn't contemplate not playing it.

Hopefully Ubisoft will have fixed all the bugs and performance issues in the PC version by Xmas :D

I've installed the latest patch and updated my drivers- runs at ultra 1440p at 35-40 fps.. ^^
