Residents of Fowlmere, a village that’s home to around 1,200 people in southern Cambridgeshire (England), have vented anger at the local Connecting Cambridgeshire broadband project with BT after an “ugly” and “intrusive” new FTTC capable street cabinet was built to deliver superfast broadband into the community.

BT have dumped a pug-ugly box onto the high street at home. A little care, or forethought, would have saved a lot of grief, and loss of amenity.

I wouldn't really care about the look or size of it, but they placed it in a pretty stupid place.. look at all the mud on either side, there's a footpath for a reason!

The locations for each box are chosen according to engineering and budgetary needs. If installing one in the place they have is the best spot for it, then its kinda tough luck. Saying "A little care, or forethought, would have saved a lot of grief, and loss of amenity." is the height of nonsense - do you know about all the under surface services in place in that area? Do you have all the details of the engineering needs? I highly doubt it.

Access points are protected by law, so... Not quite the same! (Ie. That would be one of the "needs"...)

let me guess ferrybridge, eggborough and drax from a highish vantage point you can also see the decommissioned thorpe marsh to the south

Eh if they want to act like that I would implore BT to remove all telephone/broadband/modern services and open up a local telegraphers, it will be in keeping with the rest of the local village in aesthetics and attitudes.

 

Perhaps they could call it Freddick & Thomas' Telegraphy Consortium, obviously that's abit long to fit on a sign so they could just call it FTTC for short.
