MattDLEA Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Powercut over the weekend messed with out NAS box so today all the teachers are logged in but they have some shares missing. This is done with a .bat file that lives in the sysvol folder and runs at startup. I have modified this file and things are working again however is there an easier way to apply it this morning with out getting them all to log off and back in ?

Could stick a shortcut on there and get them all to run it?
tmcd35 Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 What version of Windows server are you using? If it's 2008R2 or above you can set mapped drives using group policy preferences. They'll apply with the next group policy refresh without the user having to logoff/logon.
Michael Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 If the bat file is hosted within Netlogon, as above you can create a shortcut for them to run. Alternatively logging off/on will do the trick.
tmcd35 Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 The other option is to use PsExec to run net use remotely on each machine one at a time in a batch file run once on the server.
psydii Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Task scheduler via GPP allows you to run one-off tasks as the logged on user. (since Vista)
synaesthesia Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 As above, GPP. Why do people still use scripts for mapping stuff
