We thought about this and were confident our basic policy was safe and suitable for all students. As soon as they try to elevate their selves, they are fully tracked via lightspeed

We have lightspeed here. All users get our basic student, year 7-11 however if they are blocked they can sign in on the blocked screen and authenticate via their AD credentials. This stops after 15 minutes of inactivity so the next user is safe. I have a lot of sixth form using them and little to no complaints from them so far.

I've read that the browsing history can be accessed from the GApps admin area, is this true / do you use it, and is it accurate?

No that's cool. I just wanted to check. We do something similar with our iMacs and tablets as the capture portal on Smoothwall wasn't working brilliantly on Safari.

Howdy all, again.

Our Head of ICT doesn't want pupils having email accounts, at least not for the foreseeable future. Does anyone else running GAFE have a thing where their pupils just use Google accounts for using Drive/Docs etc? I'm sure it would be fine for the most part, just wanted to see if there were any massive headaches that anyone else might have encountered if so. At least in my head using Classroom might be slightly troublesome without any form of email for teachers to submit homework etc.

Is your head of ICT un-persuadable? AFAIK you can set GAFE email accounts to only be able to email other accounts in your domain. I think there are lots of collaboration features which work better if you can email.

Yeah you can set that up but assume you're a primary school if you don't want email.

Yes, we're a prep school. We probably will want email for pupils, but we'd like to be able to control when we enable it, then the ICT teacher can introduce email when he thinks is best. We were thinking maybe "read-only" emails for younger pupils, so they can be sent emails by staff but not write any out, or maybe pupils can write emails but to staff only. Is there some way of implementing that - some kind of email filter rule, maybe?
