Advice required for PE Department

Hi All,

 

Just wondered what everyone is doing for their PE department by way of video camera and large video files?

 

I have been asked by my PE department to provide them with technical advice on obtaining a video camera for capturing full lessons with USB storage (External HDD) with the added detail of editing these videos in Windows live movie maker.

 

I don't know what the limitations of Windows live movie maker is or have a clue about video cameras, would really appreciate peoples input on this, HOD states he has around £500 for this project.

we've previously used a cheap 2 bay nas with a couple of 2tb drives to fulfill this function for PE and drama. We've also burnt raw files to DVD for them to send to exam boards.

we used an iPad and iMovie last year with no issues.

We use Windows tablets and the Camera app in 8.1. They record directly to the network, and the resulting video files go straight into Live Movie Maker 2012.

Perhaps a GoPro with an SD card large enough to record for the length of a lesson at your chosen resolution/frame rate?
