Eclipse.NET Silverlight Management - Fingerprints missing

Hello everyone,

 

We have recently had our Eclipse.NET library software upgraded to Silverlight Management. However, it would appear that since doing this, none of the fingerprints are working. Having had a look in the tables of the database, the fingerprint hashes are still there in the Borrowers table. Is there any way of converting these to the .dat file the Silverlight Management now uses.

 

I have set the MLS Plugin Configuration Tool's Operating Mode to Remote (locally hosted Eclipse.net) and I have re-registered my fingerprint, and have noticed that the fingerprint hash has been added to the BiometricData table.

 

Therefore, I believe that I need to get the fingerprint hashes that are in the Borrowers table converted to a .dat file so that I can import them into the BiometricData table of the Eclipse.NET database using the MLS Plugin Configuration Tool.

 

I really hope someone has a solution otherwise the librarian is going to have to re-register student's fingerprints.

Same problem we had, i updated myself, then spent a few days with one of their support people who remoted in twice who appeared to know about as much as a snail about how it all worked.

 

We ended up rolling back to the old version and i haven't since attempted it. I think you may have to do something prior to updating in order to export them or something........not that the idiots bother to tell you that or document it anywhere. I hate MLS, it's a sad state of afairs when this poor excuse of a piece of software is the best the world has to offer libraries.

 

EDIT: rather i should say, i hate capita, MLS were doing well and their support was useful until capita bought them.

We had two of their support people remote in, one to do the upgrade to Silverlight Management and then another a couple of days later after we found out that the fingerprints weren't working. They both didn't seem to know that much about their system or Server 2012 R2!

 

We haven't bothered to rollback and have just broken the news to the librarian that students will need to have their fingerprint re-registered when they come to take a book out. They took it quite well...surprisingly

 

I completely agree that before MLS was bought by Capita they were pretty good and their support was top notch, but now it is quite poor.

As I understand it you should have had your Thumb DB converted before you upgraded. If you have a backup of your library database before the upgrade to the new version contact MLS and they should be able to get a .dat file for you using the backup, again I still think this has a very low success rate.

 

I cant comment on why you were not advised the above and why there is no supporting documentation, you would think there should be - I would bring that up with MLS/ Capita.

J_Worth, looking through some of the comments on this thread it appears that benzz has summed up what I would have said myself.

There is information regarding this around however it seems it's hard to find, apologies for any confusion caused. As for the documentation, thank you for bringing this up to us. We have now added that into the list of prerequisites and shall be updating all relevant information soon to make it easier to find throughout our website.
