I am 23 and the friend is 20 so we are not looking to craft fares or that kind of thing. Does anyone know any good places to get some food? Thanks

Dos_Box Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 I'd go to Liverpool for the day. Lots to do and see. We take the kids several times a year. Park at a Mersy Rail station on the outskirts (if you are in a car) and get a day pass for their network for £4.80. It'll save you a fortune on parking which is massively expensive in Liverpool. Southport, whilst pleasent, is a resort that time has passed by. 1

MYK-IT Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 (edited) mmmm.... not much happening there any more... if the town centre's MaccyD's has had to close down; then you know things aren't going well! ;/ Nothing specifically there, compared to other retail outlets you find in most towns/cities now-a-days...cinema, bowling, crazy golf, arcades, Pizza Huts, KFCs and other food outlets. The fairground is not the same any more either... You've missed all the main events...air show, musical fireworks competition, flower show, etc Whereas if you are into scenic views; whilst you have the lakeside and beach (trying to blank out the retail outlet!) you are better off going to the National Trust Pinewoods few miles down the road. Eating...love Prezzo on Lord Street, not cheap but v.good food and service. As others have said, go to Liverpool, or if your friend lives that way then perhaps get on the train to Chester? See Anthony Gormleys Another Place on Crosby beach: 'Another Place' by Antony Gormley - Sightseeing in Liverpool, Crosby - Visit Liverpool 2. Then move up to Formby to see the Red Squirrels and have a walk on the beach: Formby - Visitor information - National Trust 3. Grab lunch at Nandos in Southport 4. Visit Martin Mere WWF as all of the winter visitors are beginning to arrive now: WWT - Wetlands for life - Martin Mere Wetland Centre Apart from that, there really isn't that much to do off season in and around Southport.

Seb1780 Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 (edited) Back in the day it was a great night out - plenty of good bars, the 'Brick then on to the Kingsway or the Conservatory to watch "The Hit Man & Her" being filmed; these days I'd probably just head to one of the excellent golf courses. One thing I would like to try my hand at is Sand Yachting - this used to be a big thing around Southport but I never got round to having a go. Edited October 29, 2014 by Seb1780
