1TB to 4Tb drive on a mirror raid

Our exchange server has a mirrored raid with 1TB drives in them. I believe I should be able to swap the second drive with a new 4TB drive, wait a day and swap out the 1st drive with another 4TB drive. Is this going to work or am I missing something simple that will give a catastrophic crash?

depends on raid controller bit in theory it should work ive done it before on hp servers with raid 1 and 5 arrays before but be prepared for a long wait

I've done it on a RAID 5 array but not a mirror. I would guess it's the same principal but there's no harm in trying. If the mirror is working with 1TB and 4TB then replacing the 1TB will not cause any problems. At worst you will have a 1TB mirror with 2x 4TB disks.

Just make sure that your backups are robust first - while it's rebuilding you will obviously have no redundancy in case the other disk fails (unlucky, but I know it happens!)
