As for Ebola, keep washing your hands is the key. It is a relatively weak virus when outside the body. It has to penetrate your body through an opening for it to become deadly. Once it is on your hands, Ebola virus can enter your body through breaks in the skin of your hands, or when you touch your eyes, nose or mouth (mucous membranes). Similarly, if you are wearing gloves that have Ebola virus on them, Ebola virus can enter your body if you touch your eyes, nose or mouth with your gloved hands. (lolz, not really) On a serious note, I think it is awful how they are handling it in Africa. I read an article the other day, which was by a 13 year old and how they have been quarantined and have no access to food, or any way to buy and sell goods. Sounds absolutely horrific. They need some serious experts to go there and sort it out, instead of having men with guns threaten kids in quarantine.

nyiss Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 (edited) Not my personal beliefs but got shown this the other day (some pages possibly NSFW) I can't find the story that goes alongside it but one of the mystery folk behind the guidestones talks about eliminating the human population through disease, which apprently we have now all been desensitised to over the years by zombie films. That was said to be a full level pandemic, which didn't really do all that much damage in the grand scheme of things. Same goes for the bird/avian flu that was supposed to be making the rounds some a couple of decades back. I, myself, have full faith in WHO to properly contain this to most extent.

Given the lethality of this thing, the difficulty in keeping it under control and the risk to the world if it really gets out, maybe that wouldn't be such a radical idea? As one of the quotes in the film says "Be compassionate. But be compassionate globally." 1

Provided the Gov act quickly then we have no real reason to be concerned. In IT I suppose this would be similar to storing your data in the cloud and hoping that a destructive virus never gets into the platform, I wouldn't be too worried about it personally as it's a secure platform, but in the event that a destructive virus penetrated similar platforms I would expect the one my data is in to act quickly to ensure it doesn't effect my data. Beyond that what can I do myself? Well, the key to infection control is good hygiene and disposal of potentially contaminated items of clothing. So other than washing my hands every few minutes, and burning all my clothes every day there isn't alot more I can do, unless I became a recluse living in the woods.

I'm surprised the daily mail haven't yet.
