Dear Flash Player Distribution Partner- Adobe will be making changes to the way you access the installers for Flash Player. These changes are part of an ongoing effort to give you the latest versions of Flash Player in the most secure manner possible. Over the next 30 days you will see the following changes: • Approved licensees will receive a unique access link to the new hosting page. Only those with a valid link will be allowed to access the page. • The existing hosting site URL will be decommissioned onNovember 18, 2014. Any attempt to access this page after that date will cause a redirect back to theFlash Player Download Center • Users with a valid unique access link will be given a limited number of uses to access the new page during the 12 month license term If your current license agreement extends beyondNovember 18, 2014, you will need to reapply for a distribution license. During the transition time you may apply for a new license. Any newly approved license will renew your term for 12 months, giving you access to the new landing page. localzuk Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 I'd love to know why Adobe are so fussy about Flash deployment. People deploying it aids their bottom line, so why would they make it more difficult to get hold of the MSI?

The Flash Player distribution page containing the download links is the top result on Google when you search for the MSI. I'm surprised Adobe didn't change the URL sooner. It's far too easy to find! Users with a valid unique access link will be given a limited number of uses to access the new page during the 12 month license term that doesn't look good, as Flash Player updates pretty regularly. I reckon the limit will be sufficiently high enough that it won't be an issue. Even if Adobe allow you to download Flash Player fifty times over the course of the year, that should be plenty.

Also, that would make sense if the point were to work out which types of customers (sector, staff size, fleet size, primary OS platform etc) were distributing however many copies, but you don't even have to log in - hence the earnest warning about not sharing a link in a world where we all do that day by day! You can't actually gather any meaningful analytics through this unless you force customers to log in using their own account; it just seems like something that was thought up a good few years ago and nobody's bothered to change it...
localzuk Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 Its even more ridiculous when you consider that both Chrome and Windows 8.1 include Flash player as standard. So, their stats are going to be heavily skewed anyway!

Do not get why they would want to make it harder to access the MSI downloads, its a necessary evil to access them with the rate the program updates, but this is Adobe at the end of the day
sted Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 its a shame they cant use windows update/wsus to fire out flash updates for win 7 like you can on win8/8.1 and presumably 10 or even force it to install in the first place would make keeping it up to date easier for orginisations. I suspect they just want you to allow everyone to be an admin and update it themselves

gshaw Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 Being that Flash is one of the most exploited plugins (along with Java) you'd think Adobe would make life as easy as possible for companies etc. to stay current. Just seems so petty to get an MSI (and often a broken one at that) of something that's free to the public anyway.
free780 Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 You can uses sccm and SCUP to push out the latest flash using wsus. This gets around the issue. I guess it comes down to adobe being paid when home users don't untick the adware that gets installed with adobe flash.

3s-gtech Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 Grrr. I have the accounts etc, but I have to update the plugins so often that making it more time consuming to access the downloads certainly won't help.

If they'd only make a half decent local update publishing server all this could be done automatically. Thinking about it the tech is already there with AUSST as well.
