APMerry Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Anyone else getting this game? Looks really good. Lights off, headphones on!
6Foot2 Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Now that you mention it I have seen talk of Alien: Isolation Easter Eggs: Spoiler Alert: Do not play the video if you want to discover the Easter Eggs yourself! bennz Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 I have been playing it, very good game reminds me of Doom3. Not so many jumpy moments but full of tense atmosphere, I'm finding I can only play for short spaces of time.
APMerry Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 Yeah I know what you mean. If the thing kills me a couple of times I get annoyed and turn it off.
Crumpet Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 I'm interested in playing it but i generally don't like games that make you go to specific points to save your progress. I'm going to hold off until it's cheaper in price.
APMerry Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 I think the save points are what make the game so difficult/frustrating. It is a good game though, the atmosphere that is created is unlike anything else i've played. I imagine it will drop in price, Simply games were doing the standard version for £32 i think.
foofighterjim Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Definitely will get it but having just started playing The Evil Within, I think I'll wait until after Christmas; once the price comes down.

I denfiatly want to play it at some point, i've heard good things about it but save points just infuriate me! I'll prob get bored with it long before i complete it.
bennz Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 THB in the many hours I have played the game this has only ever been an issue once where I had to repeat one part of the game several times because I was pissed that i died - don't let it put you off.
DMcGuigan Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 I made the mistake of buying it at the same time as Evil Within, spent about an hour on both and I think I'll be finishing Evil Within first. I don't mind save points, adds to the feeling of desperation creeping about looking for one before being found by the big beasty.
mulderite Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 (edited) As a lifelong fan of the original ALIEN movie this was a pre-order game for me. On release day I downloaded it and that night decided I'd jump straight in to play the 'Survivor' mode, lights off/headphones on - stupidly thinking 'There's no WAY that a game can scare me!'. A few minutes later I was ripping the headphones off and yelping like a lost puppy when the ALIEN first pounced. About 10 minutes after that I nearly had a heart attack when my partner came into the room and she tapped me on my shoulder... Great game, great atmosphere. Just remember to visit the loo before you play. Edited October 20, 2014 by mulderite
6Foot2 Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Link: Sega Launching Alien: Isolation Add-On Pack This Month ...In 'Corporate Lockdown', Seegson Executive Ransome has learnt that he has been abandoned by his paymasters," the press release described. "Knowing that the Torrens is on the way, he decides to make his escape and hitch a ride on board, taking decoded Nostromo data with him. However, while escaping he wants to tie up a few loose ends...
bennz Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Last night I completed the main campaign and although disappointment in the ending and the frustration of the last hour of the game its still the best ps4 game I have played so far this year that includes destiny which I dint think lived up to any of the hype. Well worth spending your hard earned cash on.
BKGarry Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I have only just purchased a PS4 last week, and I got Destiny (which I haven't played yet) and Alien: Isolation with it. I have been out of my gaming practice for quite a while and this game is terrifying me like crazy, but it is great playing as someone trying to survive a singular, super evil, xenomorph that just tracks me down and kills me with no remorse. 1
smidsy Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 I have been playing this game for a week now to fill the gap until Assassins Creed comes out and reading about it on this forum. It is has been very enjoyable / terrifying with my headphones on. My partner didn't believe me that it could be tense so I played the game while she was wearing the headphones for about 5 minutes and she has now changed her mind. I do find the save points a bit frustrating when you have nearly finished a large section and then the alien gets you and you have start again. This is getting me at the moment while in the Medical centre trying to get the trauma kit and get out.
mulderite Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Don't be put off, the medical level IS difficult and a lot of people have struggled with it. I'm on level 12 and I'm still enjoying the experience, although I do find it quite stressful to play, hence I'm only playing it in short bursts. As a previous poster has mentioned I also hope to get it done in time for the new Assassins Creed game. Can't wait for that! Hopefully that will keep me busy up to GTA V coming out late January 2015.
bennz Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 yeh don't get put off, the medical level was the first time I got stuck and rage quit. as above take it in small bursts and I will provide some white print advice on a bit that took me ages: when you run into a room with lost of fire, look to the center for a ladder you can jump up to.
foofighterjim Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 For those of you waiting for the price to drop Game have the Ripley Edition for £24.99 on XBOne and £19.99 for 360: GAME - Alien: Isolation
BKGarry Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Well last night (after much frustration) I completed Isolation. Now all I want is a sequel :-)
smidsy Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 What did you think of the ending @BKGarry (without spoliers)? Yesterday I managed to get through the medical section with relative ease and then through a few more. Looks like I will need to get some game time during the week to try and ensure it is almost finished before AC lands on the door step.
BKGarry Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 It's good, some cool twists. Ends like a movie does with a good bit to end it there or make a sequel.
Gatt Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Thread: Resurrection (see what I did there?) Playing this on Steam for a while and tonight, on the XBox I finally made it past Seegson Comms - God that is a tense level and took a good few attempts (one attempt saw me make a good amount of progress and nearly completed the level only to be got by the Alien exiting a vent! Heart is still going ten to the dozen
