X-13 Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 (edited) Even if I love W10 I won't be putting it anywhere near my school for a few years, W7 ftw October at the earliest, for me. Looking through the local policy settings, there's nothing in there specific to W10. If there is in later previews, and it if allows me to sort the start menu without having to mess about with XML files, then I don't see any issue with it. Time to turn on Parallels and see what it performs like under VM. Seems to run pretty quick on VirtualBox [Win 8.1 host] with 1 core + 4GB RAM. Edited October 2, 2014 by X-13
Tall_Paul Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Downloading it here too. No time to think about rolling it our for the foreseeable future and as we seem to be purchasing Apple stuff like crazy at the moment I don't know how many PC's we'll be left with in a couple of years.

I keep forgetting about the build in HyperV support in Windows 8.1. Will have to give it a try sometime.

I've got a 60Gig SSD sitting on my shelf itching to be put into a (really) old core 2 duo lenovo laptop for a bit of a play - mmmmmmm start menu !!!!!

I've left the US iso downloading and will reinstall in the morning if they haven't updated RSAT. It's a first gen i7 (950 IIRC) which seems nippy enough until you benchmark it against the i7 4770 we got last year. Then you see just how far they have come along. I'd be happier testing in a VM as using physical hardware always ends up being a pain due to a lack of drivers etc to make it purr along. Once it's further down the line I shall put in in physical form I think.
Tall_Paul Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 I've not uploaded it to VSphere and am running it on my W7 PC. I tried and failed to get it working on Virtualbox (it needed a BIOS setting that my PC doesn't have) but I have it running fine on VMWare Player.
