I've just noticed that the Vista forum has had less than 10 threads created in it this year!

As soon as we can I think it'll be time to roll the content into the legacy 'Windows' forum.

Any objections?

While we are on the topic. We have a Server 2008 form, a Server 2008 R2 forum. We have a 2012 forum but no 2012 R2 forum. Why is that? Surely it should work similar to 2008 and 2008 R2.

This board hasn't been used since 2011 - http://www.edugeek.net/forums/portable-application-downloads/

The Bett 2014 surely can go, as it has been and gone :)

Oh also this hasn't been used since 2009 - http://www.edugeek.net/forums/edugeek-may-2009-conference/

Instead of just burning the Windows Vista forum from the system and salting the earth and so on... can we do it with the OS as well, please?

Get rid of the Vista one.

Merge the 2008 ones together and have the subject tags for R2 etc. Not seen many original 2008 servers these days all R2 now.

I think the Vista forum should just display a popup that goes "I see you have a problem with Vista... Have you tried Windows 7?" and redirect them to the Wndows 7 forum?

I still think of 7 as just Vista, SP3.

Once Vista hit SP2 it actually worked ok which is the baseline for Windows 7 i believe, but SP2 is too late the damage is done. Still cannot believe when i look back home many basic things were just broken like file copy in Vista.

This is one of the reasons I suggested using Sub forums. It allows us to have general parent forums (Windows Clients, Windows Servers, BETT, etc) and then put sub forums for each new OS version or whatever. Lock the parent forums so no one can post directly into them

I didn't mind Vista. Give it at least a couple of GB of RAM and it really was fine.

Eventually. It took a couple of service packs but was still hamstrung by a poor layout. Just getting into network card properties was a nightmare. Once W7 appeared on the scene I was game over for Vista.

My first laptop that was brought me had vista on it. 1gb of ram though. Upped it to 2GB it was great. (Core 2 duo 1.5)

Perhaps a new Vista/Windows 8/Windows 8.1/Windows 9 forum is required.

You forgot Windows Me. Though the boot disc is useful for BIOS updates.

Vista OS is pretty laggy on my Compaq CQ40. I want to upgrade it to WIndows 7, but still not sure if this laptop has the display driver from HP?

You're a bit behind, but OK... If it's an intel integrated graphics card, something will be available, but seriously, anything you think might run 7 will probably run 10 better.

I think it's AMD as it's written on the front of the keyboard. I've already tried XP but it went blue screen. Hopefully, HP has the display driver for this laptop when running Win 7 or 10.
