Papercut or Print manager plus?

Recommended Posts

Need a new printing solution as ours is becoming dated. Apart from regular printing requirements/restrictions we're also looking for:

Print from BYOD (with print limits)

Print from ipads/imacs (with print limits)

Ability to charge students real money

Which of these 2 do you recommend?

PMP has a web based solution, not sure about papercut. I think papercut is more popular so i'm thinking about taking that route but wondered what others prefer.

PMP here and as mentioned above, it certainly does the job however it really could use a facelift. I know the UI is not everything but it has an almost XP feel to it and has not evolved as a product in my opinion. It does update a lot to support new formats and is not hard to use and manage but just feels outdated. Hard to put my finger on it.

We actually use both! Paper cut has been introduced this year on our managed service (teaching staff) network and I have PMP on our own internal network.

I've been thinking for a while about getting Papercut throughout.

Those of you who have PMP - do you pay the yearly maintenance fee? That's another thing I'm questioning is it worthwhile paying.

We don't pay the maintenance fee but now we need an upgrade to use the BYOD features. Not sure if i should pay for the same product + BYOD or just install a new system i.e. papercut.
