Strange Fujitsu Laptop issue

That's what I feel is weird, as you have the same model and chipsets (unless there is some BIOS discrepancies or something)

 

The only reason I suggest windows 10, is that it is a Microsoft sys file, which may have been modified in 10, so it may not happen (clutching at straws too here)

That's great, at the moment a straw feels like a huge steel cable to me

No - especially as I have other laptops which are the same and don't BSOD half as much.

Would Windows 10 solve it?

it's got to be worth a try to see if it is just Windows 7 specific

When doing windows 10, use this

 

Installing Windows 10 using the media creation tool - Windows Help

 

You can then make a USB and do a clean install.
