Roaming

I have recreated all the profiles of the affected staff/wiped the laptops etc

The thing they were all doing was accessing a shared drive on the server - which is what the error points to - but the fix via MS wouldn't run and the same fix via another website was accepted but the laptop still bluescreens :(

What about deleting the share (just the share not the folder itself) resharing it with a different name and updating the mapped drive to that new share.

I know that sounds stupid but you never know

So - one of the ones I did all the updates, hotfixes and the like to has come back. It has blue-screened 6 times this morning!

Same error message as before

I really don't know what to do now

Resign :(

Remove Eset for the day. Perhaps try using Microsoft Security Essentials as a temporary measure. I've seem issues with network scanning and AV before. I know Sophos was mentioned but AV generally still worth ruling out unless you have already

Have done already - sadly

On another note - the one I wiped and started again won't connect to the network - "desktop service" (hope that's right - in the other school now) isn't running. If I restart it all is fine until the laptop reboots and then it stops again. Any advice on this gratefully received too

Usually network adapter driver related from what I've seen. Seen as you've rebuilt thus from scratch you've most likely used updated drivers. Could you try an older driver in this case? Opposite advise to that of the the wireless adapter I realise.

Used the driver from the disc as it happens as at the time the server was down and I couldnt access the web. Will go and get the one from the site and see what is what

If that one also gives you grief try exporting one from another laptop using DoubleDriver or similar.

problem with that is that it may be the wireless driver contributing to the BSOD issues

It's both apparently. According to Fujitsu.

I really am stuck now - It is plainly - from the error message - a windows issue that I cannot fix :(

"not applicable to this computer"

But the info says Windows 7 SP1 which I have

I also went to another couple of sites and found the actual changes and did them via command prompt. They went in fine.Don't ask me what I did as I can't remember and I am in the wrong school at present

ARRRRGGGGHHHHH

I took a laptop

I wiped it

I put Windows 7 on it from the FUJITSU restore disc.

I put drivers on it from the Fujitsu disc

I updated them from the Fujitsu website

Yes, I put it on the domain and let it install the school software - but come on, I have lots of other laptops including Fujitsus that have NO problem with this

Teacher turned it on this morning

BSOD after 5 minutes

What the ^%$%& else can I do??? :deadhorse:

Any VPN software being installed? CISCO for example. Wonder if there's something that latches on to the network adapters that disagrees with this particular set of hardware.

No, nothing like that

I would try to install it from a standard windows disk, as there may be something hiding in the Fujitsu disk

I did that already. Initially I used my full image created from one of the Fujitsus that came in with Win 7 already on it. Second time around I used my basic Win 7 image

Third time around I used a basic Win 7 ISO I took from microsoft

Finally I used the Fujitsu disc which surprisingly was just the OS and not all the other vendor carp

Something must be editing that sys file, My only guess would be some kind of network driver now. May be worth googling that Network Card with BSOD?

Is it using some weird and wonderful wireless card?

So i take it there is no correlation between network hardware and BSOD?

Stuff it, Windows 10 :getmecoat:

No - especially as I have other laptops which are the same and don't BSOD half as much.

Would Windows 10 solve it?

That's what I feel is weird, as you have the same model and chipsets (unless there is some BIOS discrepancies or something)

The only reason I suggest windows 10, is that it is a Microsoft sys file, which may have been modified in 10, so it may not happen (clutching at straws too here)
