Log on computer that is Locked

I'm sure there is not a way to do this with out pressing the power button.

 

But It would be useful if there was a way to get onto a computer that has been locked. I have a few computers to look at this morning while the staff are on training but they all are logged on and locked.

You should be able to click switch user, and then log in.

If you don't have fast user switching enable, try remoting into the machine (mstsc) and if someone is logged in, it prompts you with "Do you want to log them out?"

If you do not have switch user turned on the only other way used to be if you are an admin on that PC to force log off of that user.

Im sure I got this method from another thread on edugeek but we use 'administrative unlock' which is the same as the old xp administrator unlock. https://4sysops.com/archives/restore-administrative-unlock-to-windows-7/

If it's a domain machine and you're a domain admin (or even just a local admin), you can switch to their session and log off from there by running TSCon as LocalSystem.

Terminal Services as an admin will also force a console session log off

Not quite sure how they do it, but impero can actually unlock the system (as if the end user type in the password). Then you can log them off, etc.
