techguy1991 Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Hey Guys, really could do with some help here... we have migrated our file server over to a new one. I have moved everything over to our new file server and have changed the group policies. But after testing I have noticed issues. Most policies are working and have been picked up by the work stations but the printer mapping policies and the drive mapping policies seem to be not working. I have changed the drive mapping policies to the correct location. But when you go to my computer then click on one of the drives its still trying to connect to the old server (cpssvr01) not the new one (cpssvr1). (see pic) I have tried a GPupdate /force on CMD on the workstation but no luck. I am also having issues trying to change the map printers policy. When trying the change it to the correct printer path I get the following message. (see Pic) any ideas guys? Thanks, Lewis
fairm010 Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Have you tried using replace instead of update? 1
techguy1991 Posted August 26, 2014 Author Posted August 26, 2014 No but will give it a go, would you recommend GPO copy from on brand new GPO?
3s-gtech Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 It's also worth pushing out a delete all drives GPP, placed in such a way that it's processed first. I found that this helped when we rejigged a number of GPP mapped drives recently. 1
techguy1991 Posted August 26, 2014 Author Posted August 26, 2014 cheers 3s-gtech, my knowledge of GP isn't great any ideas how to do this?
fairm010 Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 No I'd try changing the existing mappings first then try a new GPO. Also delete the users profile from the local machine.
3s-gtech Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 To do it, go to Drive Maps in GPP. right click->New->Mapped Drive. Change the Update option at the top to Delete. Now select "Delete" or "Delete all, starting at:" depending on which you wish to do. You can create a number of these to delete every existing drive map, or do them all in one Preference item.
techguy1991 Posted August 26, 2014 Author Posted August 26, 2014 Hey everyone, I have managed to sort out both GPO's by crating new ones and removing the link to the old ones this strangely done the trick. Thanks for all your help
