office 2007 and exchange

we are trying to connect office 2007 to the exchange server but everytime we try to create an account we get the error

 

"the connection to microsoft exchange is unavailable. your network adaptor does not have a default gateway"

 

we are drawing up blanks when ever we try anything

 

any ideas guys

I would think its likely that

your network adaptor does not have a default gateway

 

Does the PC have a default gateway set? (start, run, cmd, ipconfig /all)

 

Maybe the first google result for searching "your network adaptor does not have a default gateway" will help

Do not blindly follow the instructions, check the gateway, if the pc is dhcp then add the values to the dhcp server to be pushed out.

Erm, unless you follow the workaround described in the KB in which case it works perfectly.
