ghSDC Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 I am currently trying to install Cisco Meraki System Manager on a set of 6 iPad 1s (iOS 5.1.1). I have tried on all of them to access the app store, but things are not showing up properly when I enter the Apple store. I have attached a screen shot of what I am seeing. It is not just the 1 iPad it is affecting. I have tried all 6 iPad 1s and still have the same issue. I know it is nothing to do with the wireless connection as I can access the app store on iPad 3s. Has anyone else had this issue, or do you know if Apple have cut access to the app store on older iPads? Many thanks
SYNACK Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Upgrade them to the latest IOS available to those devices and it 'may' be able get the new software. Those devices have long since been obsoleted by Apple.
Arthur Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Upgrade them to the latest iOS available to those devices and it 'may' be able get the new software. 5.1.1 is the latest version of iOS supported by the 1st gen iPads. http:// http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/ipad/specs/apple-ipad-original-specs.html Those iPads are over four years old!
SYNACK Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 (edited) 5.1.1 is the latest version of iOS supported by the 1st gen iPads. iPad Wi-Fi (Original/1st Gen) 16, 32, 64 GB Specs (iPad (Original), A1219, MB292LL/A*, 2311, iPad1,1) @ EveryiPad.com Those iPads are over four years old! Ah, never mind then, in Apple years those are about due to be excavated and reconstructed as exhibits in the Smithsonian. Apple support is like the attention span of a goldfish Sorry to the OP, it looks like there are probably no legal options to make that hardware do what you want it to. Edited August 1, 2014 by SYNACK
Marci Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 (edited) They should still work fine regardless of age. I have iPod Touch2G & iPad1, both of which still work fine with AppStore on iOS5.1.1 - Apple flipped it so that you can use the latest supported ver of an app for your device - see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5919. The problem there appears to be AppStore urls being blocked (eg: their CSS cdn, and probably their js repo). The urls for older vers of AppStore may well be different to newer vers, so check filters etc. Although, I don't think Meraki was around in iOS5.1.1 days, so doubt there's a version of their app available for that ver of iOS anyways.
