I don't mind that so much. Better than a remake that's so true to the original that the remake is essentially pointless. Everyone hates the remake of Total Recall, but i loved it. Treat it as a separate film. The original film was so far removed from the book it didn't matter. The remake film was just a close to the original text.

Everyone hates the remake of Total Recall, but i loved it. Actually, so did I. The same, but different (about the best praise possible for a remake, better than "The same, but worse"). Liked the odd hoodwink to the Arnie film - "Two Weeks"

All remakes are poor copies of the original, except for "The Return of The Magnificent Seven"; they simply remade "The Magnificent Seven" and it is equally as good. (yes I know that is a remake of "The Seven Samurai"). This new Mad Max, might just as well have been called F&F8 or Death Race2. Little known fact for you F&F fans - it's a remake of a 1939 film of the same name. The original pops up sometimes on Movie Mix.

There's already a Death race 2 and 3 (unashamed to say I've seen them both) and according to IMDB they have number 4 planned for next year. I loved the original Mad Max films but in all honesty that trailers for this new one just doesn't make me want to go to see it, from what I see it's just explosions for the sake of explosions.
unixman_again Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 I have my ticket booked for Friday afternoon. Finding a cinema in the Midlands showing it in 2D was very difficult. Thursday, most of them are showing it in 2D but Friday they've all switched to 3D at the higher price too. I don't think it will be anywhere near as good as the originals but it should be watchable. It will no doubt be like the aforementioned Death Race and Rollerball remakes - basically keeping the title and a smattering of the plot, but leaving out the philosophy behind the originals. Brimstone Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Mad Max "Fury Road" is not a remake of previous Mad Max films, for the following reasons.... It is being directed by the same director for the previous ones, George Miller Miller was due to make a fourth Mad Max film not long after the third one but financial difficulties, then 9/11 and the Iraq War got in the way so the project was cancelled, Miller also fell out with Mel Gibson which put this even further back.

Watched it yesterday, it was good if you like action films but there wasn't much else! What the hell were those things on stilts? if they were people on stilts because of the mud, why were they there in the middle of the night when it's dark and cold?

I loved the colours of the film; made a pleasant change from the "washed out" look they like to apply to everything these days - great choice by the director. Not sure that B/W will be an improvement. They were people on stilts because of the mud. Possibly whatever they subsist on only comes out at night? Or, if you prefer one rant I saw: it proves that men are better than women because rather than running away like Furiosa's tribe, the men learned to adapt . I read t'other day that the lady with dark hair from Furiosa's lot (Megan Gale) was set to play Wonder Woman in George Miller's aborted Justice League movie. As pretty as Gal Gadot is, Megan Gale looks more like Wonder woman to me.
