Anyone using Andriod tablets in Hertfordshire Schools and getting apps to go online through the proxy.

I can get online via the browser but not the apps

So unable to get meraki installed for example.

Tried rooting the device and put some proxy apps on but these have not worked.

Using a Nexus7

Thanks for any advise

Have you checked the web filtering? I've had issues with various Google apps and sign-in on Android devices not working because they need access to Google Plus, as well as a few more obscure addresses. Probably worth running a netsweeper report against an affected IP.

In the past I've also had problems with apps and Play Store failing to connect, or downloading very slowly. However this problem only affected the transparent proxy service, not the main proxied network. This magically seem to fix itself, presumably as a result of a change Updata made to the network at some point.

Perhaps it's worth trying the transparent proxy if you think that's the likely cause: http://hics.lea.herts.sch.uk/tech/?page_id=57

Thanks Michael,

I dont have access to Netsweeper here or Transparent proxy as im in a primary school.

Have you managed to connect to apps through WF1-3 proxys?

I have tested on meraki and spotify on more than one device but can connect to spotify through using a desktop.
