Scenario...

I have a small premises for a charity that provides lessons on the internet for silver surfers/people on low incomes/after school clubs. They currently have a suite of 12 pcs which are running chrome and are on an small business server with the GPOs to lock down windows and chrome.

The internet connection is currently running through a BT business hub with category filtering turned on. The charity have noticed that despite safesearch being enforced on the GPO for chrome and also categories being blocked google searches are still throwing up, shall we say, undesirable results.

What we are looking for here is something that can do category filtering, be AD integrated, and also do search keyword filtering.

I've looked at DansGuardian, but that does not do AD integration (and i'm not really a linux chap)

I've made them aware that the solution they want won't come for free, but not costing a fortune is the key here!

What do we reckon?

iBoss Pro. It doesn't have AD integration, but does have User login capability (iboss Pro Series Content Filter - User Login).

Otherwise, the lowest spec iBoss Enterprise filter should set you back less than $1,000. Or, you could use Squid (w/ AD integration) and Dansguardian or Untangle perhaps. However, if you aren't a Linux/Open Source type then there aren't going to be too many good web filters with AD integration for much less than $1,000 or so.

Dan's Guardian isn't designed to be used as a proxy, but work in conjunction with one. Your AD integration would be setup in Squid.
