Choosing domain at login

Hi

 

We are about to move to a new school on a campus that already contains 2 other schools, one of the new buildings will be shared between ourselves and one of the existing schools.

 

We want the teacher form what ever school to log in and choose whether they log onto either school 1 or school 2, the idea is that dependant on which domain they log onto it will mount the correct shared drives for the school that they are a member of. this will be particularly be important for SIMS.

 

There will be pupils from each school in each room so having multiple computers is not really practical

 

any ideas how I can achieve this

You will have to have the two domains trusted and that will add them to the list available so users would logon as domain\username that is it at a simple level.

The domain drop down from XP has gone. So what the chaps say above is correct. I think you can login with your UPN. EG [email protected] if you change domain.com to there email address users might be able to remember how to login better.

 

Few things to note with SIMS. Make sure your connect.ini on the local has a redirect to S drive instead of pointing directly to the server. Or you will have an issue connecting to the right Database. Also its key to make sure both schools update SIMS at the same time. If you have one school on an older version you will end up with an updated client that can't login to an older database.

 

The machines can only be added to one domain. For example if they are on the domain of the other school you might have issues pushing software to these machines. Also make sure they are running an OS that both schools support

Assuming they both have different e-mail addresses for the different then just set the UPN of them to the relevant domain and ask them to log in with their e-mail address assuming the alias is the same and their user name.
