On the 12th July, I will be taking part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for the Forget Me Not Children's Hospice, which provides support for children and young people with life shortening conditions and their families across Calderdale, Kirklees, and Wakefield. You can find out more about the work of the hospice at Forget Me Not Children's Hospice

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is a 24.5 mile hike taking in the three peaks of Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-ghent, with a target of completing within 12 hours.

So, tin rattling time I'd really appreciate any donations, large or small, you can donate through my fundraising page at Virgin Money Giving | Fundraising | Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge 2014.

I've also got a proposition for any site sponsors on here, for a suitable donation I would wear one of your corporate t-shirts on the walk and put your logo on my sponsorship page, pm me if interested ;)

Thanks,

Teejay

Donation made. Good luck :)

Thank you @Elsiegee :)

Just got the newsletter through from Forget Me Not and they will be doubling the number of children and families they support this year. The work they do is absolutely awe inspiring, these are children who have a very short life expectancy and the care they get is incredible. They also provide amazing support for the parents and family as well.

Friends of my technician did this last weekend. Well on track, completed first two, driving down (M6?). Huge accident, road closed and massive diversion. By the time they arrived, they had I think 2 hours left to do the last peak. Most gave up, but 2 of the fittest decided to RUN it - they succeeded and arrived back with minutes to spare, and promptly collapsed in a heap - mad! Edited by howartp

Yep, been in training for a while now, going with a friend who has done it a couple of times, so not underestimating the difficulty. Well done on completing it:D

I'm sure my mum would oblige but I'll be back in London by then, I'm also sure she'd rent you the bed in the holiday cottage :p

Well, that didn't go quite to plan, managed 2 out of 3, I got cramp in my thighs after the first hill Pen-y-Ghent and it kept coming back, just about managed Whernside but couldn't get my legs to work to walk up Ingleborough so had to pull out :-(

The temperature didn't help, it was blazing hot with absolutely no cloud cover for any respite. I'm planning to make another attempt to do it later in the summer or next year, really disappointed but I'm determined to crack this.

That's a shame. I have done all 3... separately... and they are not easy climbs. Good luck with the training for next year!

Good attempt @teejay, I'm sure you will do it next time - it is a hard challenge!

Weather does play a very large part in something like this. You want the bogs to be dry but you don't want to be getting sun burnt too!
