abillybob Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 But my question is there must have been something somewhere that incited people to use FaceBook rather than the other social networking services? What is that, money doesn't contribute to this and neither does user base. Bebo for example and MySpace had a lot more users than when FaceBook was made so what made everyone leave those sites and joint up to Facebook?
Grey-gear Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Wonder why it went down? but got to love the inderpendent punch line under the picture.

Its due to friends, I had a Bebo account back in 08, all my school friends had one, but they moved to Facebook, once you start missing out on stuff in school gossip is a big incentive to move (I opened by fb account in 09) - and it spreads like that, now with older people I suspect that is down to the publicity it has received from all those school/uni people.
sparkeh Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 How long do you reckon FaceBook will last? 3 more years according to Princeton: Facebook will die out ‘like the bubonic plague’ - Telegraph
Novalee Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Yeah- lots of kids are using things such as instagram and snapchat more, as their parents are all on Facebook so it isn't 'cool' anymore.

I think with this kind of faddy social stuff, no generation wants to be using the same stuff as the older generations. Our friendship group used Facebook when it first started, when our parents signed up we thought 'hmmmm might have move now', and when our grandparents signed up we cleared out We were using Whatsapp to staying touch but now its owned by FB we might have to move on again...

This Maybe people will wake up one day and realise all that money it makes is because they are the products, their information is worth something and they should be more savvy with it.
