Digital Signage media player and software

Hi All,

 

kindly recommend Digital Signage media player and free software pls. We have a TV screen in school, Head and Deputy will like to use it as display.

Xibo, clear cut winner for this in the Free section

If you have a spare Raspberry Pi laying around, you could try Screenly.

We use Pi's for this as well, have a staff photo gal that we build from our MIS database so HR add/ remove staff and the screen gets updated all done in powershell, Pi then connects to a web server and displays. Another screen connects to a PowerPoint and we use another to connect and show vids and tv and the like. (as a side note also use a Pi for a print release station) they are fairly flexible.

Thanks guys, I would love to try Xibo but it not possible to locate a PC close to the screen so I was thinking of getting an android media player attached to the screen(behind lol)my budget is 50quid.

It is possible to get Xibo working with Pi's we've never tested the reliability of it though.

Could you hook an Acer Revo on the back of the screen? That's what we've done here. A bit more than your £50 budget though I guess?

Xibo... we use HP DC7900 from @ICTDirect_Dave on them.

 

Also, we have RPi client, which is perfectly OK for showing web content and image slideshow...

If your going down the Pi route which could be within your budget i'd strongly recommend looking through this thread:

It has links to Xibo images that can be put straight on to the Pi's SD Card.

We started using Rise Vision which integrates with our Google Apps domain very well. Please so far and best of all free!
