World Cup!

Hi everyone, as the football world cup is a week away I thought I would see who everybody thinks is going to win it..... Safe money would be on Brazil, but does anyone think that any teams are going to surprise us. I personally think Argentina will win it and I think Uruguay will do well

Well they are guaranteed to get out of the group unless Costa Rica pull off a shock!

 

Argentina appear to be a good bet for Semi-Finals at least. My money is on Spain though.

With our group I think we will lose to Italy, beat Costa Rica and trip up on Uruguay by the skin of our teeth. I am awaiting the normal dreaded knock-out stage penalty shoot-out.

Spain are a decent shout because they'll keep hold of the ball and in that heat and humidity that could be the difference, having said that I would never count out Ze Germans.... Saw an interesting bet today Aguero to get the golden boot and argentina to win the world cup 33-1, worth a few quid

My son's 6th form farewell party has had to be rearranged. He is at a boys' school. The Pastoral Support Managers arranged it for the evening of June 19th when England are playing.

Im not sure on who I think will win but as my team (Preston North End) has a couple of players playing for their country it will be nice to see them play at international level and do well.

Argentina are my fav's to win. Also think Spain are in with a shout even though the pundits seem to keep writing them off for some reason! If England get out the group stages then it will be a good World Cup!

I'm with you on that one. Bleh. Football. Dull. I can't really do with sitting there watching any sport, really. Except maybe E-Sports. Sometimes. I'll make an exception for The International.

Safe bet would be Brazil... outsiders Argentina, Spain & the Germans. Wildcard could be Belgium.

This! We know not everyone likes football but it gets boring seeing killjoys complaining about an event that is of national interest whether they agree or not.

 

After watching last night I am not sure how well England will do this year. Bit of a downer, but I felt something was lacking and they did the usual grab the lead, let the foot off the gas and mess it all up routine. A fight in a friendly match though...double red card, they better not repeat that in the actual tournament!

 

Let's see how England fare against Honduras on Saturday's friendly.

Sterlings challenge was a bit rash and showed his inexperience there. Valenacia's reaction was way over the top - I think if he hadn't of reacted like that both players would've stayed on the pitch!

I think the double red card showed why sterling hasn't been starting games for England, he's still got that inexperience and in major tournaments players will try and get you sent off. I'm a Southampton fan and I think exactly the same with Luke Shaw, still to inexperienced for the big stage.

I think last night showed that defensively we're not strong enough (although was a 2nd rate back 4) but going forward we do have a bit about us. I think we will get out of the group however I wouldn't mind being knocked out at the group stage if we play well, I just don't want a repeat of 2010 world cup of boring football and staggering through.

Sterling showing his lack of maturity this time on the pitch... he has been embroiled in off the field drama for years, lets hope someone sorts this kid out hes got potential no doubt about that.

 

As for the World Cup its just about the only football I will watch on TV more for the other teams than England. I actually think Colombia might do something so I will be watching them real dark horse!
