Best Quadcopter?

Been watching Quadcopter youtube videos all afternoon...seriously awesome stuff might be time to treat myself

Just resurrecting this thread -his birthday is next week and the children would like to buy him something to go with the quadcopter. When I say children, they are 21,23 and 25 and can spend between 10 and 30 quid on him.

Given what I have already bought, see above, what would you suggest?

There is a bumper kit thing. I think there is a 'spares pack' (motors, frame) but - the quad itself is such good value that even spare motors don't make much sense.

Accessories, info, that sort of thing?

There are a few books on Amazon - build you own quad sort of stuff but most of that kind of thing is freely available on the net and likely to be much more up to date. There are some simulators around but generally they are more expensive than the Husban!

 

Just By-the-by, related to his helicopter flying/crashing - the Skyartec Nano is the best small heli I've had (by a long way). It is fairly robust and copes reasonably well outside even in a light to moderate breeze. If he is ever looking for another heli to try and master flying them, it would be well worth a look.

Just an update- his birthday was yesterday and he was really excited to see the quadcopter, spare battery, spare blades and blade protector!

He is eager to start having a go with it, I know

Right, so now we are one month in and he is pretty confident with it and can fly at speed.

Is there anything else he can do with this model in terms of fancy flying or whatever?

How is he making it turn is he just applying rudder to rotate it and then go forward in the new direction? If so banked turns are the thing to look at also is he practicing flying nose towards him as well?

Depends what you mean by "pretty confident" and "at speed"! Does he fly "nose in"? How is he flying a figure of 8? Can he land it on a target no bigger than the quad smoothly without bouncing? Can he throw it in the air and fly? I guess you can loop it - but you would have to do it like a plane.

 

Funny I was thinking of this thread today - I could have recommended a Lipo Charging Bag as a good (probably a mandatory) accessory.

Me and my 4 year old we're watching a young lad flying a model plane the other day - he loved it. Thinking this quad copter would be a good way for us to get into flying something - thanks for the thread!
