Either buy the X4 H107C HD or the H107L(if you don't want a Camera) both are great Quadcopters. Now if it's learning to Fly so he can move to a bigger model then the Walkera Ladybird V2 is the perfect Quadcopter. I fly Mode 2 thats what I'm used to, I tried Mode 1 recently and couldn't get the hang of it!

Buy him a Hubsan X4 H107C HD, This is a fantastic little Quadcopter great for beginners, its got a 2.MP camera for shooting video, fantastic fun to fly indoors and outside. It sells for under £50 you will find a review here The Best Quadcopter Reviews I have one of these models and I can't fault it.
