HCC Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Hi all, The school is running a drama production this summer, and would like to set up a video wall of 8 monitors for background scenery changes. We have the screens and the vesa mounts, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. Does anyone know of a low cost vga splitter that breaks a single VGA source image down into 8 vga channels, making one big image? (not lots of duplicates) I'm thinking a projector would be a better solution, but their set design doesn't allow for this. Regards,
Oaktech Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 You probably want something like a catalyst video server to deal with this, hiring them is not a cheap option, but I can put you in touch with someone who can help you out if needed.
3s-gtech Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Is a rear projection screen not an option? Much simpler to configure, but obviously needs space. There are video wall processors for a large number of screens. They cost in the thousands usually. You should be able to do something on a PC with a couple of graphics cards with multi monitor outputs (using something like Eyefinity) View topic - 3x3 Samsung video wall. No, you'll need a computer with multiple independant graphics outputs - a multi-head graphics card (or several), or multiple computers. The Raspberry Pi is cheap enough to be an affordable option for one per screen. Coordinating displaying still images at the same time wouldn't be too difficult, but multiple video displays is going to be a bit more complex. How are the screens arranged on stage? Does anyone yet do LED display stage flats? Rear projection is going to cause issues with blackouts, and projectors aren't as easy to unplug and shunt around a stage if needed.
Gurtlush Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 We are going to use raspberry pi's (when we get the time) Try Home - PiWall as a starter. There are alot of raspberry pi's video wall projects. it's the cheapest video wall way we found. 1
