nathan3388 Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 hi Was just wondering if anyone could give me some advise. We are after installing a access point outside so student and teachers can access the network from about 300 meters away from the building but the access point will have to be installed on the edge of the building witch is on top of a bank to point down on the astro turf and playing fields of the school. Was just wondering what will be the best access point to buy (ruckus) to get the range and good throughput devices that will be connected will be iPads, Laptops and phones??. Thanks Nathan
Boredguy Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 When we had a survey done the other month when we thought we would actually have funds to replace our WiFi, our Ruckus supplier recommended a 7762 outdoor AP for similar use. The document claims up to 150Mb for upto 300 meters so it should meet your rough requirements. Depending how long ago you had your current system installed, go back to that installer and see what they recommend, and even if you can get a AP to test.
Haptic Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Hi Nathan, a 7762 mounted at that sort of height should do the business for you. If you would like I can arrange a demo one so you can test live as it were; drop me a PM. Thanks, Mark
