I have been asked to source some visualisers and was wondering if anyone can recommend make/model. Price range would need to be £250-£280 range or cheaper. Had a look and it is a minefield as so many on the market so would prefer your advice if you have been using.

My personal advice on this for what it is worth is to get a visualiser that integrates with your IWB software (SMART\Promethean) for example.

 

I've always found this easier as it can be launched from software (Notebook\ActivInspire) which is probably already in use. Otherwise it just becomes another bit of software to worry about.

If you have the wireless infrastructure for it, get iPads (or other tablets) and use those with a document scanning stand, showing the iPad's screen via AirPlay mirroring. That way, you get a visuliser, document scanner and, of course, a tablet, all in one go. If you really just want a visuliser, the TTS Easi-View is around £100 and is basically a USB webcam on a stick - you can use it as a general webcam and for stop-motion video, too. They even sell them in packs of 6 at a bit of a discount, if you're buying several.

id just get a couple to start with. In my experience they get used for a few weeks then just end up gathering dust

For what is effectively a £5 webcam on a stick, you have to ask *why?*. Could the same effect not be achieved with mobile devices you may already have, cameras you already have, using electronic copies rather than printed documents (which is a huge bugbear for me!)?

We made our own "visualisers".. a hd webcam on a stand. Teachers loved them at first but now the majority are pushed aside. The art department still use theirs though.

I just messaged the company and they are sending my one on trial. Also they sell them for £29.99 + postage.

Sorry to bring up an old thread but @rush_tech @fiza how did you deploy the capture software? I have 15 of these things and I'm not going to install the software for them all manually. Alternatively if anyone knows of any good free webcam capture software (stills and video) that could be deployed as the standard software is very poor.

Alternatively if anyone knows of any good free webcam capture software (stills and video) that could be deployed as the standard software is very poor.

 

The Camera need to be plugged in for the software to install, we did ours manually

@foofighterjim - I got one of the Hue HD cams for trial. The teacher did not like it as a Visualiser. It also froze a few times. We have decided not to buy any.
