NAS Server

I am looking at installing a NAS box at one of my primary schools. I currently have 2 Netgear REadynas NV+ 4000. But looking at something simular. The school has 300 pupils and 40 staff. I am wanting something that will work with my server 2008r2 network and the schools iPads (with Mac server).

 

Any suggestions please?

How much storage are you looking for?

About 2 to 4Tb with at least option for 4 drives. Like the idea of expanding it at a later date. It doesn't need to be rack mountable.

I have heard RS814(RP)+ is quite good (no personal experience with it).

The Synology stuff is Epic. The software is great, the performance outstanding. I've got two DS2413+ and I couldn't be more pleased. A good option for you is the DS1513+ as thats a 5 bay yet can be expanded with another 5 bay add on enclosure at a later date - so 10 drives.

I'm a big fan of the ReadyNAS stuff, especially the Pro line, but again the Synology stuff is on another level. The interface and flexibility is unbelievable.

You can't go far wrong with either ReadyNAS or Synology fo rthat type of device.
