We are seeking to appoint a self-motivated and enthusiastic Information & Data Manager to lead the use of Data and Management Information System (SIMS) to provide intelligence that enables focused school improvement at Newquay Tretherras and across the newly-formed Multi-Academy Trust.

 

You will lead the statutory and school-based collection of data to deadlines and ensure that data captured is accurately prepared, collated, monitored, anaylsed and reported in electronic and paper-based form in an efficient manner to leadership, staff, students, parents and outside agencies so that they can gain an accurate and up-to-date picture of progress and achievement.

 

This is a key strategic and operational role. You must be able to understand and analyse data to a high level and you will have excellent IT, report-writing and presentation skills.

 

Newquay is surrounded by beautiful countryside and a stunning coastline and we are offering the opportunity to work in a vibrant, exciting school environment set in an area of natural beauty with an outstanding quality of life.

Full time, and we do!

We have a colleague retiring from a wider position which over the years also grew to include data / assessment / reporting. She and one of our Assistant Heads have done a great job in this area, but this position will hopefully allow us to go further - it will be a really pivotal and exciting role for the right person to lead in.

Like others have said, this is sorely tempting! How long do you think it would take to commute from Bristol to Newquay every day?!?!

 

Does the role include any timetabling out of interest?

 

Hopefully this will mean more roles at this kind of salary scale will start popping up! Who else is going to print off that job spec and accidentally leave it in the SLT meeting room? :-)

All joking aside I'm fairly sure that Newquay Airport does fly to/from Bristol these days! (I may be wrong though!)

In terms of timetabling, we've dropped in a couple of related items in to the job description as we think it would be useful for the post holder to understand the academic management side of things, but the above referenced Assistant Headteacher is our timetabler! (Having the added skill set certainly wouldn't be a disadvantage though!)

Yes, it does include timetabling - its in the job description on their website. @mb2k1 you beat me to it by 1 min!

I did read that bit of the job spec but I didn't think it implied that the job included any actual timetable scheduling, more just timetable implementation once the assistant head had done the fun stuff! Still, these jobs have a tendency to develop pretty rapidly, so just being in close proximity to the timetable is probably good enough.

 

It's a funny situation that if I was seriously considering the job the pay would be a MASSIVE step up, but the responsibilities would potentially be a step down. I wonder how many other career paths have situations like that?

Another quick question, would you consider someone without Profiles or SISRA experience but strong elsewhere in SIMS (Census, Assessment Manager, etc) or other third party tools (4Matrix, etc).

As long as you had a similar skillset and could demonstrate how you've managed data at a similar level then possibly. SISRA is fairly easy to pick up from what I've seen/used myself. I can't say too much about Profiles though - despite being a SIMS Manager (technical) in a previous life I've never had anything to do with it!
